The David Naghi Newsletter #1
Welcome to the first newsletter of the #NaghiNext campaign to be the MP for Maidstone & Malling
As a public servant for over 20 years in our area, it has always been within me to work for our community and the concerns at the heart of our residents. The purpose of our newsletter is to show the constituents of Maidstone & Malling the love and passion I have for our constituency.
In future newsletters, you can expect to see the continuation of my long-standing dedication to our community, consistent with my track record in public service. As I aspire to represent our constituents full-time, I aim to forge stronger connections with voters and demonstrate that I am the genuine alternative for our constituency.
I am excited to share some recent highlights and provide insights into the work we have been diligently undertaking in and around our community.
The campaign officially launches!
After months of meticulous preparation by both myself and the team, it was exciting to officially kick off the campaign with the unveiling of our website and a memorable event held at Allington Castle.
It was fantastic to see a great turnout and such strong support for our campaign to bring true representation to Maidstone & Malling. It was attended by supporters, media, community leaders, and there was a strong show of the Lib Dem Councillors across the constituency.
A huge thank you to all who attended the successful event, and also to Sir Robert Worcester who allowed us to use the space and also attending the event! You can check out the online article from the Kent Messenger on the event by clicking HERE.
Since its launch, the website has garnered excellent feedback and traction. We delve into why I am the genuine alternative for the constituents of Maidstone & Malling. It provides detailed insights into my resume and outlines the priorities I will champion, ensuring that constituents' concerns are brought back into focus from the outset.
The campaign to protect Bunyards Farm
In what has been a long-standing battle between developers and local campaigners / residents, the campaign to protect Bunyards Farm has been in full flow and is near to reaching its climax.
Situated in Allington, the open space has been of use to local residents for decades but has faced a threat from developers wanting to build over 400 new houses. You can read more about the details of the campaign by clicking HERE.
With a special thanks to Lib Dem Kent County Councillor Chris Passmore and pressure group MERlin, they were able to submit 800 pages of evidence to the council as to why it should be granted village green status.
In the build up to the public inquiry next week, the Allington Wildlife Group organised a march through the green and open space to show support for the campaign.
This campaign holds significant importance to me as it mirrors the priorities I am committed to focusing on. We must address the housing crisis, ensuring that developments are only approved after thorough planning and in suitable locations. Additionally, it is crucial to safeguard and enhance our environment. In areas where our natural spaces are threatened, we must advocate fiercely to preserve them, enabling us to continue enjoying the splendid environment we are fortunate to have in Maidstone & Malling.

Celebrating our sporting successes
2024 has been a hugely successful year for our community on the sporting front, with successes coming from every angle.
Maidstone United
Most notably, Maidstone United showed the spirit that our town holds with their historic FA Cup success. It was a real pleasure to be in the stands for both Ipswich and Coventry away. These will be memories that will stick with me forever. The club as a whole, fans included, represented our community perfectly, showing the spirit and passion we possess as a collective.
Thank you to the Black & Amber army.
National Youth Weightlifting Championships come to Maidstone!
It was a pleasure to work with Maidstone weightlifting coach Matt Vine to bring the championships to our hometown, and a thank you to the council for allowing the space. Maidstone Weightlifting was able to lift gold thanks to several of our competitors.
After months of preparation and hard work, we were able to bring this competition to Maidstone Leisure Centre, aligning us with previous host cities like Manchester and Birmingham.
Thank you for your time reading the first newsletter of the campaign. If you would like to support the campaign for true representation for Maidstone & Malling, you can find out more by clicking HERE, and I look forward to seeing many of you in and around our constituency.
